Rashes: Terminology & Assessment

The care and management of a child with a rash depends largely on the clinician’s ability to correctly identify the rash. As nurses, we play a vital role in aiding the clinician’s correct diagnosis through the way that we describe the rash using the correct terminology and clearly communicate what we are observing. It is also important that the nurse can identify a rash that requires isolation to ensure the spread of an infectious rash is minimised.

Course Overview

Rashes are often one of the most difficult and stressful presentations to assess in paediatric nursing. This webinar breaks down the assessment of rashes to assist in clinical decision making around isolation, urgency of treatment and management priorities for patients presenting with a rash.
