Rashes are often one of the most difficult and stressful presentations to assess in paediatric nursing. The care and management of a child with a rash depends largely on the clinician’s ability to correctly identify the rash.
As nurses, we play a vital role in aiding the clinician’s correct diagnosis through the way that we describe the rash using the correct terminology and clearly communicate what we are observing. It is also important that the nurse can identify a rash that requires isolation to ensure the spread of an infectious rash is minimised.
This webinar breaks down the assessment of rashes to assist in clinical decision making around isolation, urgency of treatment and management priorities for patients presenting with a rash.
In this video learning activity, you will:
- Explore the terminology of different rashes
- Recall how to assess clinical urgency
- Understand how to determine if isolation is required
- Acquire knowledge about common conditions presenting with a rash
This learning activity is one hour in duration. 1 hour of active learning = 1 CPD hour
You will receive a certificate after completing a short quiz to use in your professional development portfolio.
